    CONSULTATION

    What happens during consultation?

Over the course of thousands of client interviews, we have honed and refined our consultation process to maximize the benefits to our clients. Virtually every consultation (whether via telephone, Skype or in person) follows the same 4-step process, which takes about 30-60 minutes depending on the complexity of the case. We can, however, adapt to any situation. Rest assured, regardless of the circumstances, we will walk you through the process step by step, so you know exactly what to expect.

    Step 1: Collection of Information

    • Purpose: Gathering personal and identifying information to ensure clear communication, comply with Law Society requirements, and understand you better to provide tailored assistance.
    • Assurance: All information is confidential and held to the highest privacy standards.

Step 2: Review of Court Documents

    • Purpose: Careful review of your court documents and any other relevant materials to understand the charges, court dates, and any conditions or restrictions.
    • Components:
      • Charges: Clarifying exactly what you are charged with.
      • Court Dates: Ensuring awareness of required court appearances to avoid missed dates and potential warrants.
      • Conditions: Reviewing conditions to ensure they are manageable, and if necessary, developing a plan to change or remove them.
    • Note: This is not a substitute for a thorough review of “disclosure,” which occurs after the initial consultation.

Step 3: Review of What Happened

    • Purpose: Understanding the incident from your perspective, including background, the event itself, and post-incident actions.
    • Details:
      • Background: Context leading up to the allegations.
      • Incident: Step-by-step account of words and actions of everyone involved.
      • Aftermath: Any further contact, police questioning, or new information.
    • Process: This step may take the longest and might require follow-up meetings or additional written information from you.

Step 4: Explanation of Court Process, Fees, and What we can do to Help

    • Purpose: Explaining what to expect next, the court process, costs, and how we can assist.
    • Assurance: We answer all your questions to ensure you understand the process and feel confident in our ability to defend you.
    • Commitment: We are here to help no matter the circumstances of the charges.

By following this structured consultation process, we ensure that every client receives the thorough and personalized legal support they need.
